iPlay®

Who says learning a new instrument is classroom only? IPlay® connects instructors with students teaching them musical fundamentals from beginner to advanced. Students are provided a rented instrument of their choice and paired with an instructor in a virtual learning environment.

iLearn®

Studies support the effects of tutoring on student success demonstrate the more academic support students receive, the more likely they are to pass their courses and stay enrolled. iLearn® seeks to eliminate the Black-White Gap where in Mathematics, a 26-point difference (4th grade level) and 31-point difference (8th grade level).  Reading, a 27-point difference (4th grade level) and a 26-point difference (8th grade level). The Hispanic White Gap in mathematics, a 21-point difference (4th grade level) and a 26-point difference (8th grade level). Reading, a 25-point difference (4th grade level) and a 24-point difference (8th grade level). Students receive a minimum of 3 hours of one-on-one support through a virtual platform by tutors possessing a Bachelor's degree or higher. *Bachelor degree candidates in their Junior year or higher are eligible to apply as tutors.

IamArt®

The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the learning environment where 50% of students learn remotely. Studies show that students when separated long-term from social environments may face episodes of depression, mood and attention disorders, anxiety and in more extreme cases, suicide. IamArt® provides a stimulating group setting of students paired with an art teacher. Focus is placed on the development of social skills and self-confidence. Art materials are mailed to the enrolled students who meet once per week for a period of 4 weeks.

About us

POWER was created in 2010 to directly address the needs of the community, deploying initiatives such as Project F.E.E.D.® (Friends Ensuring Every Dinner), Project Warmth®, and iLearn® under a 501(c)(3) sponsorship. On September 10, 2018, POWER obtained its 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service. Thereafter POWER expanded their scope of services to include a specific focus on aging, education, finance, food insecurity, health, housing wellness, and social justice and reform in low-income, minority and underserved communities (LIMUs) adding programs The Justice League®, Senior Connect®, iAmArt®, iPlay® and LavaLove®
